A high level delegation from China’s Fujian Province arrive in Honiara on Sunday, marking a significant step in the ongoing partnership between the province and the Western Provincial Government (WPG).
This visit is being facilitated through the Chinese Embassy in Honiara and the Western Provincial Government executive.
Western Province has a sister relationship with the Fujian Province since last year.
The six-member delegation is led by Hon. Mr. Li Dejin, Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Fujian Provincial People’s Congress.
Western Province Deputy Premier Brian Lotikena was at Honiara International Airport to meet the delegation.
The delegation will travel to Gizo on Monday morning for a day-long visit and discussions.
The visit aims to foster deeper connections between the two provinces, Western Provincial Government Deputy Premier said.
“The visit is part of our ongoing efforts to enhance our relationship with Fujian Province of China.
“We highly value this partnership and are eager to explore investment opportunities,” Lotikena expressed.
Western Province said, it welcomes investors from Fujian to contribute to the development of the province.
“Our focus is on economic growth, particularly in our productive sectors, including agriculture, fisheries, tourism, and forestry.”
This is the second visit by a delegation from Fujian, reinforcing the commitment to collaborative development.
The delegation is scheduled to return to China later this week.
