Local futsal fans are in for a treat as the Solomon Islands national futsal team, the Kurukuru, will host two international friendlies against Australia’s Dural Warriors Futsal Club next week.
The matches are scheduled for Wednesday, 26 August, and Thursday, 27 August, at the Solomon Islands Football Federation (SIFF) Academy outdoor futsal court.
The friendlies is part of the Kurukuru’s preparations for next month’s OFC Futsal Men’s Cup 2025 in Fiji.
Dural Warriors are no strangers to Solomon Islands futsal, regarded as one of Australia’s most respected futsal clubs, the Warriors have a proud history linked to The Centre Church in Dural, where pioneers such as Brian Codrington played a vital role in the early development of the indoor football code.
The current Warriors squad features former and current Futsalroos, bringing with them international experience and quality, with the visit not only providing valuable competition for the Kurukuru but also give local futsal fans the chance to witness top-level futsal in action.
Beyond the matches, the Warriors will also take part in community activities, including school visits, open training sessions for local futsal coaches, and joint training with the Kurukuru.
The tour is made possible through collaboration between the Solomon Islands Football Federation, Dural Warriors, The Centre Church, and SALT Ministry. For the Kurukuru, it represents an important test as they continue their build-up towards the OFC Futsal Men’s Cup.
