GOVERNOR General Sir Frank Kabui has conveyed ‘warm greetings and special well wishes’ to the new Democratic Coalition for Change (DCC) Government as he unveiled the ‘speech from the throne’ to open the 10th Parliament meeting yesterday.
Sir Frank congratulated the Prime Minister and members of the DCC coalition for securing the mandate to govern the country.
“May I humbly convey to the National Parliament, now in sitting, following the smooth election of the Prime Minister on December 9, 2014, very warm greetings and special well wishes, on behalf of our Head of State, Her Majesty the Queen.
“May I sincerely congratulate the Prime Minister and the Democratic Coalition for Change Government, for successfully securing the mandate to govern the sovereign affairs of our people and country.
“Our people throughout the country are eagerly awaiting being part of the change that you profess, to actually feel and experience the much needed change that is pronounced by our Government, particularly through the reform programs, that are being implemented.”
The Governor General extended appreciation to Ministers of the crown for taking up the responsibilities of implementing policies.
“As you spearhead the political leadership of Government ministries, much would depend on your proactive political directions and sound strategic planning as you drive the implementation of Government policies.”
Sir Frank also extended his congratulatory message to the opposition group.
“By the same token, may I also convey my sincerest congratulations to the Hon. Leader of the Official Opposition on your timely appointment.
