WESTERN Provincial Assembly (WPA) Member for Ward 22 of Nono Gilisi Palmer has been sworn-in as the newly Elected WPA Deputy Speaker this week in Gizo.
The closed door election was conducted on Wednesday morning in which Gilisi was announced the new Deputy Speaker. He was later sworn-in at 3pm that same day by the Gizo’s Principal Magistrate Clifton Ruele and was witnessed by the WPA clerk and other members of the WPA.
Taking his oath, Gilisi acknowledged the trust that has been placed in him by his fellow members of the WPA and simply said that he will to his duty to the best of his ability and work with fellow member for the good of Western Province.
Hon. Gilisi Palmer a family man from Marovo Lagoon has already proven to be a man of the people with his active participation and community responsibilities as a spokesperson for his Tribal Committee and a God fearing Christian of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
“I look forward to working with the Government of the day so that we may be able to unite and work together for the betterment of our people and can only assure the government and people that I will work to the best of my abilities while in Assembly.”
He was nominated and elected in respect to Standing Order 7 and has taken up his duties by officiating in the election for the new premier Friday.
