THE delay in response to calls to promptly fix roads in Gizo Township is discouraging, Gizo residents said.
Derik Tala of Jah Mountain said the deteriorating state of the roads in the township cannot be left unattended to.
“The roads must be fixed quickly. They are deteriorating fast due to the recent downpour,” Mr Tala said.
He said the provincial government has promised to upgrade the roads but nothing has been done since.
“We are calling to the provincial government to look very seriously on poor road conditions here in Gizo.
“When fixing roads, road workers and funds must cater for construction of proper drainage system to ensure the roads do not deteriorate quickly.”
Gizo City Clark Derald Michael said the provincial government is planning the road repair works together with the Labour Based Program through the Ministry of Infrastructure Development (MID).
