The Guadalcanal Provincial Assembly has passed a historic $64.4M budget it concludes today, Thursday 3rd April.
The meeting was considered highly successful.
Following the two weeks meeting several important ordinances were approved.
These included; the Guadalcanal Fishery Management Ordinance 2025, the Business and Hawkers License (Amendment) 2025, the Guadalcanal Property Rates (Amendment) 2025, and the Guadalcanal Staff Instructions (Amendment) 2025.
The Assembly Members also addressed important issues like debt servicing, provincial housing properties, outstanding SINU arrears, and the passing of important policies, including the Three-Year Rolling Plan Narrative and the Annual Work Plan (AWP) 2025 – 2026.
Furthermore, the adoption of the Ward Development Committees (WDC) for the 2025 – 2026 year.
Another key highlight was the confirmations of land acquisitions for land plots such as Masa in Ghaobata Ward, and Komanuha, Ragastapahau and Komibo in Sahalu Ward.
A major highlight of the session was the unanimous approval of the Guadalcanal Trust Fund Ordinance 2025, a private motion bill introduced by the MPA for Moli Ward, Hon. William Atu (Guadalcanal Premier).
The ordinance is designed to enhance infrastructure development across the 21 wards of Guadalcanal Province.
Thurday’s Sine Die motion was also highly engaging, with most Members of the Provincial Assembly (MPAs) sharing the challenges faced by their respective wards and offering their collective vision for the future of Guadalcanal.
In his Sine Die speech, Premier William Atu thanked each and every one of the MPAs for the successful meeting.
He also extended his gratitude to all the Guadalcanal Heads of Divisions and staff of Guadalcanal Province.
Premier Atu stated the Province is at the cross-road and in order to move forward, his Executive Government will continue to push for the delivery of goods and services through transparent and accountable mechanisms.
The Full Assembly meeting was then adjourned by the Hon. Speaker Peter Aoraunisaka under Section 61 of Standing Orders of the Guadalcanal Provincial Assembly.
