THE latest batch of graduates from the Australia Pacific Training Coalition (APTC) in Solomon Islands are immensely proud of the qualifications they gained from APTC programs and are thankful to the Australian Government for funding the programs.
Speaking on behalf of the graduates at their graduation ceremony in Honiara last Thursday, Andrew Upwe, an International Skills Training (IST) graduate said they have reached a milestone, marking a turning point in their lives.
“Gaining an Australian internationally-recognized qualification is something we should all be immensely proud of. It is a moment to cherish and celebrate.
“APTC training has brought about positive change in our lives, our families, our communities, and our beloved Solomon Islands,” Mr Upwe expressed.
He said it is not just the certificate itself, but the knowledge, skills and experience gained along the way that truly matter and will shape the paths ahead.
Mr Upwe, himself is a returning mid-worker under the Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) scheme, said he was honored to have graduated with an advanced Certificate qualification – IST.
He is now working with APTC, training other young Solomon Islanders to take on roles in Australia’s mid-work sector under the PALM scheme.
Mr Upwe said when he was invited to enrol in the International Skills and IST Advanced Trainer and Assessor course offered by APTC, he seized the opportunity.
“The skills I have gained have transformed me into a confident trainer and assessor equipped to share my knowledge and experience with others.
“I am sharing this because it is about the profound impact of this training on my life. It has taught me the importance of continuously updating our knowledge and skills and seizing every opportunity that comes our way.
“These accomplishments are not just mere certificates. Rather, a major milestone, a symbol of dedication and resilience,” he added.
Mr Upwe, on behalf of the graduates, expressed deep appreciation to the National Government and its longstanding partnership with the Australian Government for advancing Technology and Vocational Education Training (TVET) in Solomon Islands.
