GOLD Ridge Mining Limited (GRML) has downplayed Keohoto Landowners Association (KLA)’s stand against prospecting on Mount Vunusa in Central Guadalcanal.
KLA opposed GRML from carrying out future prospecting on the land after the Mines and Mineral Board cancelled its prospecting license over the land.
However, a Chief and Director of GRML Walton Naezon stated that the issue had gone before the court last year after the company received the first show cause letter.
Mr Naezon claimed that the same individuals already raised similar complaints during the process of acquiring the Surface Access Agreement (SAA) in the form of objection.
However, he added that the Mines and Minerals Board on their deliberation had previously rejected their complaints.
As such, Mr Naezon questioned the Mines and Mineral Board on which power they have to take back what they have already rejected.
He said he will now refrain from commenting on the issue as it is currently before the court.
