The Honiara City Council (HCC) executive has been given insights about the progress of the Premiers conference preparations
The Local Organising Committee (LOC) responsible for the conference’s preparations, presented to the council’s executive a progressive report and an overview of the plans and activities.
Chairman of LOC Maesac Suia said, since the Guadalcanal Province and the Honiara City Council will be co-hosting the conference, it is important to update both the local governments with the progress of the preparations.
“The progressive report presented by the LOC is timely for us to seriously look at the conference event,” said Eddie Ngava, Deputy City Mayor.
“Though there are still areas that needs to be improved, we are happy about what the committee has achieved so far,” he added.
After the briefing, the council’s executive with the organising committee paid a visit to the proposed venue which will host the opening of the Premier’s Conference at Ginger Beach, Northwest Guadalcanal.
“The visit to the hosting venue was to see for ourselves the ground work which have been carried out towards the event.
“Even though there are challenges in terms of finance, it is progressing very well and we believe it will be complete in time for the conference,” said Mr Ngava.
There will still be more continues briefings between the committee, Guadalcanal and HCC Executives.
Currently the LOC has already established its office for their daily operations at the HCC head office and are progressing with the preparations.
The proposed date for the opening of the 8th Premiers Conference is on the 1st of October.
