MORE samples are sent to Australia to further determine if there is another variant circulating in Solomon Islands.
This was revealed by the Technical Advisor at the Ministry of Health and Medical Services Dr Yogesh Choudry during Sunday’s talkback show sponsored by the Office of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (OPMC).
He said currently Delta is the dominant variant affecting many people in the country and while some are sick with the virus others have lost their lives.
Dr Choudry said samples continued to be collected from the public.
“Samples are being sent overseas to find if there is another variant also circulating in the country.”
He said once the results are made known, the public will be informed.
