THE continuous heavy downpour in Auki over the past three days has forced schools in town to cancel classes and students sent back home.
Auki has experienced nonstop showers, thunder storms and strong winds the past three days.
Classes were normal all of last week; however with the wet weather conditions experienced since Friday, classes were cancelled yesterday.
Students from schools such as; Aligegeo provincial secondary school, Auki primary and community high schools, Kilusakwalo, Alota’a, Ambu were just some of the many schools that were forced to cancel classes yesterday.
Students talked to yesterday said that they were advised to go back home because of the wet weather.
“Our teachers told us to go back home and stay warm as classes were canceled because of the rain,” a group of students from Auki community high informed this paper.
Similar sentiments were received from other students of other schools roaming around in town yesterday.
Meanwhile the Solomon Islands Meteorological services informed this paper that despite the heavy downpour, no low depression has yet been detected.
