Central Coast has suffered their first defeat of 3-0 to Hekari United on Monday at home ground much to the disappointment of the home crowd who turned up in large number to witness the home side during their first match in their OFC champions league campaign.
The results have turned the way which the local fans did not expect so many local supporters have echoed their disappointed.
Some local fans said, Central Coast’s performance against the Hekari United has been one of the poorest performances at home by any Solomon Islands club.
They did not have any single threat on the Hekari’s goal mouth.
However, a local fan who wants to remain anonymous told Star Sport that despite the defeat Central Coast have been able to hold the pressure of Hekari United throughout the match.
The three goals were scored due to simple mistakes that the team need to improve before their next match against Tupapa Maraerenga of Cook Islands this Thursday.
He said, if the home side wants to register their first point against the Cook Islands side this Thursday they have to dig deep and see their mistakes and improve and regrouped again.
He said “as a local fan, I am disappointed with the way the boys perform, however despite the defeat I will always be a fan of Central Coast in their remaining matches and at least they put smile on our faces in their next match.”
Central Coast FC skipper Phillip Mango told local media after the match that their missed opportunities has cost them the defeat and they will regroup and improve on their mistakes for their second match this Thursday against the Tupapa Maraerenga.
Head Coach Jacob Moli after the match highlighted areas where he identified they need to work on before their second match, one of the areas is finishing and defending.
“We have few chances to score in the match but poor finishing has cost us to suffer the defeat at home ground. We will regroup and ready for our next match”.
