Homeowner away at the time of destruction
A house was completely destroyed by fire in the early hours of Monday, March 23, 2026, at Kusumba, Log Pond in Tangarare, West Guadalcanal.
The incident occurred around 4am while the homeowner was away. Residents living nearby reported noticing the fire only after it had already engulfed the house.
Upon receiving the news and arriving at the scene, the owner expressed frustration over the significant social and economic losses suffered as a result of the incident.
He has called on relevant authorities, particularly police officers at the Guadalcanal Plains (GP), to attend the scene promptly and carry out investigations to identify and apprehend those responsible.
Neighbours who witnessed the incident said they have limited information at this stage and are awaiting the arrival of police to assist with further inquiries.
