HUNDREDS of people living in and around Honiara concluded their public holiday with muscle flexing hitting the road during the Whit Monday fun run on Monday morning.
The route started at Lawson Tama stadium, up the Kola-Ridge cemetery towards the direction of the Governor General’s residence and down the Kukum market and back to Lawson Tama.
Many people came out in numbers representing their companies, organizations and individuals from in and around Honiara.
As usual the event attracted children, youths, women, leaders, expats, locals, visiting friends and families, all dressed in their respective uniforms to participate.
The event is organized by the Rotary Club and has been gaining favour by Honiara residents every year; this year was no exception despite the Covid-19 Pandemic.
Prizes were also awarded when the race concluded at Lawson Tama.
His Excellency Governor General Sir David Vunagi officiated in the prize giving ceremony.
Prizes awarded were under the overall open category, secondary schools category and primary school category for both male and female.
Consolation prizes went to the company with the biggest team, the oldest runner and the best dressed participant.
Organizers took time to thank the companies and organizations especially the Rotary Club for being the major sponsor and organizer of the annual event.
