CONTINUATION of trial in relation to the traffic case against former provincial police commander of Guadalcanal Daniel Hunikera will start next month.
Last Friday prosecution called only one witness.
Prosecution will call another witness and avail four other police officers for the defence to cross-examine before closing its case.
So far five witnesses were already called since the trial started on Tuesday last week before Magistrate Augustine Aulanga.
Hunikera is standing trial for the charges of driving or being in charge when under the influence of drinks or drugs and another of careless & inconsiderate driving.
These were in relation to an incident at Alligator Creek in east Honiara on 14 February 2015.
He allegedly crashed the government vehicle during an early morning ride.
It was alleged he was drinking at that time.
The expensive government vehicle was badly damaged when it veered off the road and crashed into the nearby bush.
That vehicle was allocated to and garaged by Hunikera.
George Gray of Public Solicitor’s Office represents Hunikera while Public Prosecutor Jasper Anisi is prosecuting.
