A MARITAL rape trial that commenced in the High Court has been halted after the accused decided to admit the allegations.
The wife of the accused had already given her evidence and was being cross-examined when the accused changed his pleas.
These were for the charges of three counts of rape, two counts of indecent assault and one count of common assault in relation to the incidents in 2013.
The accused was angry when he raped his wife and also used objects to indecently assault her.
The matter was then adjourned to today for mitigation and sentencing submissions before Justice Francis Mwanesalua.
Henry Kausimae is representing the accused while Public Prosecutors Florence Joel and Jasper Anisi appeared for the Crown.
