BATRAM Suri coached side Ifira Black Birds are in the driving seat to claim the PVFA Digicel Premier League title this season.
Speaking to Star Sports from Port Vila on Wednesday, Black Birds head coach Suri said his lads are three matches away from snatching the title.
“So far we played 11 games and still maintain our stronghold of top spot,” he said.
Suri and company are still leading the PVFA Digicel Premier League Despite their first 2-1 defeat over the weekend to closest rival Erakor Golden Star.
Playmaker Charlie Otainao who missed the match against Erakor with injury said the boys are looking ahead for the ultimate title.
“After the defeat to Erakor, our boys now shift their focus to our three remaining matches to seal the title.
“But we know it will be hard but we are aiming to win those games to become champions,” the Solomon Islands national midfielder said.
Currently the Black Birds are leading the PVFA Digicel Premier League with 26 points and their arch rival Erakor is on second spot with 25 points.
Former Champions Amicale are sitting on 4th place on the table and Black Birds next fixture is set be a crucial match against Amicale.
A win over Amicale will put Suri and the boys one foot in the position to claim the title.
Meanwhile, there are six Solomon Islands players helping Suri charge for the title.
Six local footballers currently playing with Ifira are Charlie Otainao, Joses Nawo, Dunstan, Ian Paia, Moffat Kilifa and Harrison Mala.
