IOS Partners has conducted a second visit to Solomon Islands to provide technical assistance to Solomon Airlines.
The Ministry of Communication and Aviation (MCA) has welcomed the visit as part of government’s supports to ongoing efforts to strengthen the airline’s operational performance, financial sustainability, and strategic planning capabilities, with support from the World Bank under the Second Solomon Islands Roads and Aviation Project (SIRAP2).
From September 1 to 5, 2025, the consultant conducted a mission in close collaboration with Solomon Airlines and key stakeholders, including the Ministry of Finance and Treasury, MCA, Civil Aviation Authority of Solomon Islands, Solomon Islands Airport Corporation Limited, Attorney General’s Chambers, and Frantji Shipping.
The mission was focused on: (i) reviewing operational performance and route profitability, (ii) assessing financial structures and expenditure controls, (iii) evaluating legislative and regulatory frameworks, and (iv) strengthening information technology systems and digital capacity.
This engagement aims to identify practical, high-impact reforms that improve operational efficiency, reduce costs, and reinforce the airline’s critical role in maintaining national connectivity across the Solomon Islands’ dispersed geography.
Permanent Secretary of MCA, Alwyn Danitofea, welcomed the IOS Partners team, stating: “The Government is committed to ensuring Solomon Airlines becomes a more efficient, accountable, and profitable airline capable of meeting both domestic and international expectations.
“This technical assistance will provide the expertise needed to guide the airline through strategic reforms while strengthening its capacity to serve our people and support national development goals.”
This consultancy reflects the Government’s commitment to positioning Solomon Airlines on a resilient and commercially viable footing capable of delivering essential services while contributing to national growth.
By aligning with global best practices and strengthening institutional capacity, this collaboration will equip Solomon Airlines to better serve communities, support tourism, and drive economic development.
