THE $10 million scandal that rocked the Ministry of Health in 2012 is still an issue to the people of Ontong Java, Malaita Outer Island (MOI).
This is because the scandal had affected the completion of their clinic on Pelau Island.
The refurbishment of Pelau’s clinic and Manuopo Area Health Clinic in Temotu Province were part of funded projects, which fraudsters embezzled through a fake company called Joke Shipping Services.
Eight public servants have been sacked over this scandal with two already serving jailed terms recently after a successful investigation carried out by Police.
A man from Pelau told The Solomon Star the clinic is without a new toilet, tank and new delivery beds for pregnant mothers today.
The man said the project was an eye-sore for the people on the island because it’s half done without those essential facilities.
Therefore, the Pelau man asked the DCC government to re-prioritise the project this year because the clinic also serves people on Luaniua Island.
