Bishop Epalle Christian School in West Honiara has claimed its first gold medal of the 2025 Solomon Islands Secondary School Games (SISSG25), thanks to Jared Sirrel’s outstanding performance in the junior boys’ high jump.
Sirrel cleared 1.60 metres to take the top spot, edging out Joseph K. of Koloale CHS, who settled for silver with a jump of 1.55 metres.
Frederick of King George VI took home the bronze after jumping 1.50 metres.

“It’s my first time competing in an event like this, and winning a gold medal feels incredible. I’m very happy with my achievement,” Sirrel said.
The Form 5 student also paid tribute to his coaches and school staff for their support during his training.
“I only started learning high jump a month ago, but I can proudly say all my hard work has finally paid off,” he added.
Track and field events will continue on Wednesday, July 2, at the National Stadium.
