A final year journalism student studying at USP, Laucala Campus in Suva, Fiji, has received an award to participate in a three week media internship program in Auckland New Zealand.
Elizabeth Osifelo who is also the President of Journalism Student Association said she is very excited about the opportunity.
She said such opportunity will help her to perform on a very different level of journalism.
“Being able to be recognised internationally is very motivating and will in turn give me the exposure and confidence to perform amongst some of the best media personals in New Zealand,” she said.
Ms Osifelo added that the internship will also enhance her journalism career in many areas since it will cover the print, radio and television.
She said from her three weeks internship she is expecting to learn and share ideas on how the media operates in New Zealand.
“Being in Fiji is different from how the media operates in Solomon Islands and having been awarded this internship by the Pacific Cooperation Foundation is an extra bonus for me,” she said.
Ms Osifelo hopes that her internship program will help her to increase her understanding about the pacific people in the region and in New Zealand.
From her three weeks internship she will meet reporters from others countries and visits different media organizations in New Zealand which includes Sunpix, Radio New Zealand, Pacific Media Network and Spasifik.
The PCF Media Program focuses on improving the level and quality of media exposure in the Pacific, with particular of regional issues.
She will leave Fiji to New Zealand on 24 July.
