Kurukuru’s winning coach Dickson Kadau has expressed pride for the performance of his boys and their fighting spirit in reclaiming the Futsal title after six years during the final clash in Suva, Fiji on Wednesday night.
His side won the 2025 title after defeating Tuvalu 7-0 in their final match at the packed Vodafone Arena.
Kurukuru last won the title in 2019 and was dethroned in 2022 and 2023 by New Zealand.
Speaking to OFC Media after the final whistle Kadau described the victory as; “great moment for the boys and the coaching staff.”
“I’m proud of the boys they did their best over the past days. It’s a great game for them tonight.”
He said, the whole tournament was good one.
“And the boys have been taking one team at a time throughout the tournament. The last game is an important one.”
With the victory Kadau said, they are turning the page again.
“We make history after six years of failing to win any title,” he said.

Kadau said, the victory is also part of regaining Kurukuru’s name in the Oceania.
“We went down few years ago. This year, we are stepping up and try to regain the culture of futsal. I’m really proud of the boys.”
He said, in their preparation the boys were told to fight hard.
“And the boys have battled to the end of the competition and have won,” he said.
He acknowledged all the die hard fans and crazy supporters in Solomons, Fiji and abroad.
In Suva a huge turnout of crowd showed up at the Vodafone Arena during all Kurukuru’s match with their flags to cheer.
“The supporters are crazy. I thanked the supporters especially the students. Big credit to them.”

Even the OFC Media commentator said, “its just like in Honiara.”
Kadau also extended his special thanks to the SI High Commissioner based in Suva Joseph Ma’ahanua for visiting the boys on Tuesday during their rest to encourage them.
He also thanked the players’ parents, wives and families for their support over the past weeks and months.
Kadau thanked OFC and those who organise the event.
He also thanked the host – Fiji and Fiji FA for allowing them to use their facility.
Kadau said, he is expecting a huge welcome when the boys arrive at the Honiara international airport later this week with the cup.
The Kurukuru boys also took time to sing praise to the Lord for the victory after the final whistle.
