It will be a battle for second place as Solomon Kings FC take on Round Three circuit hosts South Melbourne United at 7pm on Wednesday at the Home of the Matildas in Bundoora, Australia.
The match was initially scheduled for Round One but was postponed due to severe weather in Auckland, New Zealand in January.
Following their defeat to Vanuatu United last Wednesday, third-placed Kings bounced back in spectacular fashion with a 2-0 victory over Bula FC over the weekend.
They will be hoping to finish the round on a high note before the league shifts to Honiara for Round Four.
Speaking ahead of the clash, Kings coach Ben Cahn said, his side will stick to their process as they aim to secure a positive result.
“The process is mostly about building what we are doing and evolving and growing something long term, so we’ll follow the same process reflect, review and plan in a very short time.
“Hopefully we’ll have some of our boys back and prepare as best as we can to try and get something from the game,” Cahn said.
Their opponents, meanwhile, come into the match in blistering form after thrashing South Island United 4-1 on Saturday and remain the only unbeaten side in the competition.
Just a single point separates the two sides. Kings sit third with 14 points from eight matches, while South Melbourne’s recent victory has lifted them to second place with 15 points from seven games.
Meanwhile, both teams will be eager to close the gap on league leaders Auckland FC, who top the table with 19 points from eight matches.
