KIRAKIRA police, Makira Province, are on a policing awareness exercise ahead of next month’s Banana festival next month.
Provincial police commander Richard Hane revealed this to the Solomon star yesterday from provincial capital Kirakira.
“Clean-up of Kirakira town and awareness programmes have been carried out by my officers since Monday last week,” Mr Hane said.
He said they took the initiative to do clean-up, prepare rubbish bins, and place them at the station in preparation towards the Banana festival.
“As we approach this very important event (Banana festival) next month, it’s good we educate the people on simple principles to keep the station clean.
“And also to keep the law,” he added.
Mr Hane said he was pleased to see people supporting and cooperating with police during the awareness programmes.
He called on the Makira-Ulawa public to keep the law as they prepare for this significant cultural event.
