The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) has received a donation of kitchen utensils from the RSIPF–Australian Federal Police (AFP) Policing Partnership Program (RAPPP).
This is to support preparations for the upcoming recruit intake at Rove police headquarters.
The utensils will be used in the RSIPF Academy mess to support catering for the first recruitment course of this year, 2026, and future recruit intakes.
Supervising Assistant Commissioner (AC) Corporate Support, Chief Superintendent James Teilo, speaking at the handover ceremony, expressed appreciation for the continued support by RAPPP.
“RSIPF is very grateful for the ongoing assistance provided through the partnership program, especially for the utensils received for the police academy mess in preparation for the upcoming recruits and those who will follow,” AC Teilo said.
He added that officers and mess staff must take pride and ownership of the donated items.

“These utensils have been provided to us at significant cost. We must take good care of them and ensure they are properly maintained for future use.”
RAPPP Chief of Staff (CoS) Adam McCormack highlighted the important role of the RSIPF Learning and Development Department in delivering training for new recruits and ongoing professional development for serving officers.
“The academy is often the first exposure new recruits have to life as a police officer. It is where they begin to understand the discipline, resilience, and strength required in what can be a demanding and stressful profession,” Mr. McCormack said.
“Providing the right environment is essential to ensure recruits feel safe, supported, and able to make the most of their training to become the best police officers they can be,” said CoS.
He added that, alongside a positive training environment, access to healthy and nutritious meals is equally important to support the well-being of recruits and course participants.
To achieve this, the RSIPF Academy Kitchen Chef, Fergal, and his team require the right tools and equipment.
The Academy kitchen, refurbished with AFP support in late 2024, was upgraded with modern cooking appliances to enhance its facilities.
The additional utensils, cleaning equipment, and cutlery donated this week will further strengthen the kitchen’s capacity, not only for the upcoming recruit course but also in preparation for the continued growth and expansion of RSIPF personnel.
Participants attending recruit, investigation, specialist, and leadership training programs rely on the academy’s residential facilities and kitchen services during their courses.
RAPPP reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the RSIPF Academy to ensure it remains a welcoming and well-equipped environment for learning and development.
With well-fed and well-trained recruits, supported by skilled and experienced officers, the RSIPF is well positioned to continue strengthening its role as a leading police service in the Pacific region.
