Kwaiafa Community High School (KCHS) in East Malaita needs a lot of improvement in terms of infrastructure development.
Christina Fugui, the school principal highlighted this when speaking during school’s annual graduation ceremony on Friday.
“This school needs a new library, a science lab, a proper administration office for primary and secondary, a proper assemble hall and dining hall.”
She said if these infrastructures are in place staff and students would enjoy working and learning respectively.
However she highlighted that despite the challenges, this year has seen some improvements and new development taking place like the building of a temporary kitchen for the boarding students and the construction of the ECE playing ground, erecting of water tank for staff and construction of a staff house.
She commended his teaching staff, parents, students and the Malaita education authority for their support throughout this year.
KCHS operates ECE, primary and secondary stream.
It is one of the senior secondary boarding schools within the eastern education region with a total of 300 plus students.
Mrs Fugui said the ceremony on Friday marked another successful year for the school.
She said despite the challenges the school management was able to help the students complete their academic year.
While congratulating the students who completed their studies this year, she challenged the students to continue learning no matter where they go.
She also challenged the responsible authorities to recognise the need of the school.
