The two privately-owned land parcels at eastern end of the Henderson International Terminal in East Honiara which bogged expansion of a proposed new terminal and taxi runway project is now cleared.
Acting Commissioner of Lands Alan McNeil of the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Survey (MLHS) revealed that the one month notice lapsed earlier this month and the fixed term estates have been cancelled.
A Notice of Resumption was published on 8th June and delivered to the fixed-term estate holder.
He already informed JICA office of this land title resumption which is essential for the new international departures building, new apron and taxiway.
MLHS is assisting the Ministry of Communication and Aviation (MCA) with Attorney General’s Office in securing of land around Honiara International Airport for future developments.
As reflected in the government’s 100 days policy under the Land Development, Preparation and Construction Programme (LDPCP): The Resumption of land and property around the Honiara International Airport periphery for the expansion of airport is one of the expected achievements.
