Solomon Cup kicks off today
THE Solomon Cup tournament is set to kick off at the Lawson Tama Stadium today.
The opening match today will feature Guadalcanal Hornets and Western Tomoko at 1 pm.
The second match will see the defending champions; Malaita Eagles take on Lauru Kuvojo at 4 pm to wrap up day one of the competition.
Dubbed as the pool of death, today’s matches will be tough and entertaining between pool A teams.
Guadalcanal Hornets is coached by Henderson Eels FC coach Eddie Marahare and assisted by Jackson Namo.
Both coaches have made their final selection a week ago and are confident to get a positive outcome from the opening match.
Western Tomoko on the other hand has changed their name from Western Turtles to Western Tomoko, the Warriors, and will surely display a Warrior’s style of battle in the opening match.
The defending champions have a new line up of young potential players.
Despite being a whole new squad, they aim to defend the title.
Lauru Kuvojo has proven to be fully prepared having won all friendly matches since their arrival in Honiara.
Matches will continue tomorrow with pool B matches.
Renbel Chiefs will take on Makira Ulawa Kakamora at 1 pm and Honiara Warriors will take on Isabel Frigates at 4 pm.
