A YOUNG man believed to be in his 20s was killed after a tree he was cutting down fell on him at Toro logging camp, Makira-Ulawa province.
The province’s police commander Richard Hane revealed this to Solomon star yesterday.
He said the incident occurred on Sunday.
“The deceased was employed as a chainsaw operator for Middle Island Logging Company, which is operating in the southern part of the province,” r Hane said.
“The tree fell on him accidently, landed over his two thighs and killed him instantly,” he added.
Mr Hane said his officers attended the scene and advised the workers to take extra precaution when going out to do work.
“Extra care is vital when handling dangerous machines,” he revealed.
