Dear Editor – With such a huge surplus of $364 million for only the first three months of this year, it would be $1,456 million,( nearly one and half billion dollars ) by the end of the year. Great news indeed!
The Minister of Finance hailed this achievement so far as a great success and new money for injection into our economy.
My only wonder is whether or not such a huge surplus will be used to pay for my delayed rentals and sitting allowances for last year.
These are not huge amounts that the government owes me, but in this day and age, they all counted.
Lastly I hope that the huge government surplus will enable the government to pay its rental dues in advance as per agreements and not in arrears.
Failing this, this surplus is not an ‘economic victory’ as far as I am concerned but nothing more than mere propaganda.
