The Malaita Provincial Government (MPG) has congratulated China at the eve of the 76th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) and the 6th Anniversary of China–Solomon Islands Diplomatic Relations.
In a statement issued on Thursday 25th September, Premier Elijah Asilaua on behalf of his Executive, all Members of the Provincial Assembly, the administration, staff members, and the people of Malaita Province said; “it is with great respect and sincere goodwill that we extend our warmest congratulations to the Government and the people of the People’s Republic of China as you commemorate the 76th Anniversary of the founding of your beloved striding peaceful nation on 26th September 2025.”
This year also marks the 6th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the People’s Republic of China and the Solomon Islands.
Solomon Island broke ties from Taiwan during this month.
He assured PRC that his government stands with them in celebrating this significant milestone.
The premier further acknowledges the fruitful and rapidly growing friendship between the two countries that have developed over a short but meaningful period.
Premier Asilaua added, over the past six years,the province had witnessed remarkable progress in the spirit of brotherhood and mutual respect.
“Our cooperation has deepened across key areas, including economic trade, infrastructure development, healthcare, education, agriculture, and security.
“These developments have laid a strong foundation for a new chapter in our shared future, one built on mutual trust and common aspirations.”
The premier assured PRC that Malaita remains committed to further strengthening this relationship.
“We will continue to promote cordial exchanges and mutual cooperation at all levels—national, provincial, and people-to-people.
“We look forward to continued engagement in a wide range of sectors such as economic and trade relations, agriculture, health, sports, education, fisheries, infrastructure, tourism, and livelihoods.
“We reaffirm our dedication to the principles of mutual respect, free will, equality, and friendship, and embrace the spirit of win-win cooperation for shared development and prosperity—for the benefit of our people and for a shared future for all mankind,” the statement concluded.
A celebration to mark the event will be held on Friday afternoon in Honiara.
A number of senior government officials, guests, dignitaries and stakeholders are expected to attend the event.
