THE Malaita Provincial Council of Women (MPCW) is currently hosting its 4th Annual General Meeting (AGM) this week in Auki.
The three-day event commenced on Tuesday and will conclude Thursday with the election of a new executive.
A good number of women and members attended the opening ceremony at the Women Resource Centre in Auki.
This meeting provided an opportunity for MPCW President Martha Rurai who hold the post for six years to outline the AGM process, explained the roles of members, and emphasized the importance of accountability and transparency within the council.
She also addressed the council’s vision, challenges faced, and achievements.
Day one commenced with the official opening and declaration of nominations for MPCW executive candidates.
The agenda included an overview of the AGM and elections, plenary sessions on constitutional amendments, and approvals.
The AGM will also cover sessions on proposed amendments, the MPCW strategic plan, and deliberations on the overall program/activity report and financial report.
Following the election process for the new MPCW executive, a candidate list will be published, leading to the election of the board of trustees and the executive members.
