MALAITA Province will celebrate its second appointed day this Friday at Malu’u in north Malaita.
Premier Edwin Suibaea revealed this to the Solomon Star on Monday.
Malaita’s second appointed day – the day the province gained its status as a province – falls on August 15 each year.
Mr Suibaea said the provincial assembly agreed that the big day should be marked around the province each year.
It’s understood this is the first time the province had decided to hold the celebration out of provincial capital Auki.
Mr Suibaea said preparations for the big day are going on well in Auki, adding that deputy prime minister Manasseh Maelanga is expected to be the guest of honour at the celebrations.
He added private companies like Island Enterprise, Our Telekom, bemobile, and others are expected to be part of the celebrations.
