Director employee of Malaita Province government have expressed frustration over repeated delays in salary payments over the past three fortnights.
Last week, workers again experienced delays, raising concerns and prompting questions about why the issue continues to occur.
One employee, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the situation has become increasingly troubling, noting that provincial government workers have now faced three consecutive delayed pay cycles.
The worker explained that salaries are usually paid on Wednesdays or early Thursdays.
However, employees were informed that payments depend on the disbursement of service grants from the national government, which had not been deposited on time this week.
As a result, some workers who were expecting their pay to meet household needs were forced to seek borrowing from private lenders.
Employees said the ongoing delays have created hardship, particularly for those who rely on timely payments to support their families and meet daily expenses.
