Police in Auki have arrested a 37-year-old male person for intimidating workers and damaging hospital properties at Kilufii Hospital recently.
It was alleged that the suspect, who was drunk at the time, entered the outpatient room and started to threaten two duty nurses.
The suspect further alleged to continue by stepping on the hospital patient scale and kicking the doors and walls of the room.
Supervising Provincial Police Commander (PPC) of Malaita Province, Superintendent Michael Ramosaea said the suspect’s action had terrified the nurses on duty, including the sick patients in the outpatients who were admitted to the hospital.
PPC Ramosaea said the actions of this suspect had made the Kilufii Hospital outpatient suspend its operations for a definite period of time.
Superintendent Ramosaea said the general public was not happy with the action committed by this individual, which affected people’s lives.
The suspect has been remanded and appear before the court on Wednesday, 8 April 2026, while the investigation on the matter is ongoing.
Auki police warned members of the public that police will not tolerate such criminal behavior and will harshly deal with such people severely under the criminal laws of the country.
