A MAN who confessed to spitting betel-nut juice on his sister’s face has been given a bound over sentence in the Honiara Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.
Joseph Tata Teingoa, who pleaded guilty to one count of common assault, was given a bound over sentence of 12 months to keep the peace within family in the sum of $1,000.
If he fails to keep the peace within his family within the 12 months period, he will pay $1,000 and also face a new charge.
The court had heard that in September last year Teingoa’s sister was sitting in front of the Oba shop at Ranadi when the accused walked past her and spat betel- juice on her face about three times.
This incident occurred as a result of some family disagreements between the accused and the victim.
Teingoa told the court he was sorry for what he did and assured the court such incident will not happen again.
He represented himself in court while Police Prosecutor John Palmer appeared for the State.
