A 27-year-old male person was arrested by Auki Police, Malaita, for threatening a 50-year-old male person with a bush knife.
The incident occurred at Muskui village in North Malaita recently.
It was alleged that the suspect armed himself with a bush knife and stones and swore at the victim.
After the incident, the suspect, when under the influence of liquor, continued to threaten the community members of Muskui and even threw rocks at people in the village.
Several attempts to arrest the suspect were unsuccessful until on Monday 6 April 2026, police arrested the suspect and took him to the Auki police station, where he was placed in police custody for further dealings.
The suspect has been charged with the offense of intimidation contrary to section 231 of the penal code and will appear before the court on a later date.
Auki police warned youths not to take the matters into their own hands and to refrain from such antisocial behaviours and criminal acts.
