Axiom Mining has pledged to continue providing assistance to schools within the vicinity of its operation in West Guadalcanal.
Speaking at Lambi Community High School’s 2014 Graduation and Prize-giving ceremony in West Guadalcanal yesterday, An Axiom representative said the school assistance initiative is founded on the company’s recognition of the importance of education and the need to ensure a better Solomon Islands through educating Solomon Islanders.
“Axiom is committed to supporting schools in the vicinity of its operation here on West Guadalcanal. Axiom believes that by providing assistances to schools, it is investing in a better future for Solomon Islands.”
Meanwhile, Lambi Community High School Principal Amos Hune acknowledged Axiom’s assistances to the school.
Mr Hune said Axiom was the first company operating in West Guadalcanal to recognise the school and its development endeavours.
“Logging companies have operated here but we did not receive any such help from them so on behalf of the school, I sincerely acknowledge Axiom and wish the company well in its operation here. Certainly, Axiom’s assistances will boost the school’s development endeavour.”
Axiom is prospecting at Taho and Polo, and currently employs about 30 locals at its West Guadalcanal operations.
The company has supported a number of Lambi community organisations last month including the Lambi Community High School.
