Two Government Ministers who have been reshuffled and a new minister have been sworn-in at the Government House on Tuesday morning.
The ceremony was officiated by the Governor General His Excellency David Tipa Kapu.
Stephen Kumi is now the new Minister for Ministry of Traditional Governance, Peace, and Ecclesiastical Affairs (MTGPEA) replacing John Tuhaika Jnr, MP for Rennell and Bellona.
Member of Parliament (MP) for South Guadalcanal Rollen Seleso has been sworn-in as the new Minister responsible for the Ministry of Provincial Government and Institutional Strengthening (MPGIS).
Seleso had been a former MPGIS Minister under the DCGA government, and with GNUT until May 2024.
He replaced MP for Ranongga/ Simbo Wayne Ghemu who has taken up the Ministry of Environment Climate Change Disaster Management and Meteorology (MECDM), replacing Polycarp Paea, MP for Malaita Outer Islands (MOI).
The latest changes in portfolios followed internal wrangling between members of the current regime.
Prime Minister Jeremiah Manele told members of the local media the changes is part of maintaining political stability, balancing party representation and prepare ahead of implementing the 2026 national budget.
Under the GNUT coalition OUR Party has 24 MPs, 11 of whom held ministerial portfolios.
The other 11 are from PFP, one from Kandere party and one from U4C.
Following the changes Hon. Polycarp Paea and Hon. John Tuhaika Jnr are without any portfolio.
Sidelining of the two MPs from the two smaller constituencies does not go down well with their constituents.
