OUR Men’s Sport Physique Mr Solomon, Moffat Mona is optimistic to take one further step up in the upcoming 25th South Pacific Bodybuilding Championships set to be held in New Caledonia this weekend.
Mona retained his title as Men’s Sport Physique Mr Solomon for the second time during the Solomon Islands National Body Building Federation (SINBBF) championships held early this month at the Pacific Casino, Honiara.
He also won gold medal in the 180 cm physique.
During the 24th South Pacific Bodybuilding Championships held in Fiji last year Mona won gold medal in 180cm physique and finished second behind a Fijian athlete for the Mr South Pacific physique contest.
“My aim for the upcoming 25th South Pacific Bodybuilding Championships is to defend my title as gold medallist in the 180 cm physique as well to compete for the Mr South Pacific in physique,” Mona told Star Sports yesterday.
“I’ve been training hard for this upcoming competition and believe that I’ve got the quality to achieve my uttermost aim,” he insists.
He also said his opponents from other Pacific Islands will be aiming for the top spot as well.
“In fact the competition will be quite tough as some of my opponents are training in well equipped facilities unlike ours,” he said.
“But that will not stop me to set my mind and strive to win the Mr South Pacific in Physique category,” he said.
He said if he can make it to the final in last year’s competition in Fiji and also won the 180cm category, than nothing can prevent him to further improve his performance in New Caledonia this weekend.
Meanwhile, Solomon Islands National Bodybuilding Federation (SINBBF) team left for New Caledonia, Tuesday.
