MORE disobedient buses were flagged down by Honiara City Council (HCC) Law Enforcement officers in the past days.
The more than 30 buses were said to have been caught using fake destination sign boards and employing the most-discouraged short route.
These buses can be seen assembled behind HCC main office which they are expected to pay a fine of $20,000 before being release or could result in stripping off their business license.
The destination plate costs $100 and can be bought at Access Plus.
Honiara commuters are reportedly to have been active in helping the law enforcement team with snap shots of buses’ registered number plates employing the short routes.
Also law enforcement officers (HCC & Police) are said to have manned the bus stops on the lookout for disobedient drivers.
The newly formed Indigenous Bus Owners Association of Solomon Islands (IBOASI) will meet with the HCC Bus route task force team soon to discuss issues surrounding the profitability and sustainability of providing the service.
