The Western Provincial Government (WPG) has confirmed that more key infrastructure projects are set to be commissioned in Noro, the Western Block, signaling continued growth and development in the township.
According to WPG, preparations are underway for the formal opening of several new facilities, including a modern police station, a fisheries office, a biosecurity facility, and a branch office of the Central Bank of Solomon Islands (CBSI).
These projects are part of the government’s broader plan to boost public service delivery, improve security, strengthen the fishing industry, enhance border biosecurity measures, and expand access to financial services in the province.
The new police station is expected to improve law enforcement capacity in Noro and surrounding communities, while the fisheries and biosecurity facilities will provide vital support for the fishing sector — a cornerstone of Noro’s economy.
The CBSI branch will bring banking and financial regulation services closer to the people, reducing the need for residents and businesses to travel long distances for key transactions.

WPG officials told Solomon Star that the developments will not only enhance government presence in the area but also create opportunities for local employment and economic activity.
The commissioning dates for each project will be announced once final works are completed around late this year and next year.
Noro has been experiencing steady growth over recent years, particularly with its role as a major fishing hub in the Western Province and other critical infrastructures development.
These new infrastructure projects are expected to further position the township as a strategic centre for economic and administrative services in the region. More over the Tuna town is likely will be an emerging second largest city to Honiara.
The opening of the multi-million-dollar Finance and Treasury Office complex in Noro recently also marked a significant addition to the town’s growing public infrastructure.
