TWENTY six (26) more nurses have been registered into the Nursing Council of Solomon Islands, in a ceremony yesterday.
The registration ceremony took place at the Wesley United Church witnessed by relatives, friends, and family members.
It was a proud moment for everyone to finally the nurses being recognised as RNs – Registered Nurses.
These registered nurses were Solomon Islands National University (SINU) and Atoifi Adventist Hospital’s nursing school student graduates.
They have graduated academically from their respective schools, underwent their probation before being registered into the Nursing Council.
Speaking at the ceremony, chief guest and the Chairman of the Solomon Islands Nursing Council Board Michael Larui reminded the nurses on the importance of their job.
He told the nurses that it is obvious that the need to work together to build a strong health system in the country is important.
Mr Larui said providing quality health care services to all people in need are the ethical and professional responsibility of all nurses in the country.
A registered nurse graduate when speaking at the ceremony said, the occasion marks the most important journey of their career.
“Today, we witnessed the achievement of 26 individuals who aspired to become nurses for the country.
“A journey that begins with challenges of academic life, hardship of day-to-day living, and the excitement of success has eventually come to this day.
“From that perspective, today might be seen as the end of the journey but from our point of view, today marks the important step into our career as nurses,” Aurther Haridi, a newly registered nurse representative said, on behalf of the graduates.
It was an emotional ceremony for some of the nurses after looking back at the many challenges and achievements they have come through.
Meanwhile, the ceremony ended with photo shoots at the United Church compound, before refreshments at the Saint Barnabas Cathedral hall, Tuesday afternoon.
