In preparation for the Pacific Islands Forum (PIF) Leaders Meeting retreat later this week, a number of vehicles have been transported to Noro, Western province.
The retreat will be held from Thursday to Friday this week.
The vehicles were dispatched with the support of the Ministry of Infrastructure Development (MID) onboard LC Fair King.
In a statement issued on Monday morning MID said, these vehicles will be used to transport leaders during the retreat event in Noro.
“Over the weekend, 4 buses, 6 Hiluxes , and police fleet were successfully offloaded at Noro Wharf.
“These vehicles will play a crucial role in transporting leaders attending the upcoming retreat event in Noro, Western Province, from 11th-12th September.”
The Ministry of Infrastructure Land Transport Management Service Division is working tirelessly to coordinate all travel arrangements and ensure smooth movement of delegates for this significant gathering of leaders.
Government drivers, liaison officers, police escorts, and stakeholders are all collaborating seamlessly to make this event a success.
The leaders will be transported onboard an Australian supported Hercules to Munda before all the leaders travelled by road to Noro.
The Government, Australia and China have been provided vehicles for the Forum leaders meeting which gets underway this week.
