TWO Members of Parliament representing the victims (guards) and suspects of the Westpac Bank robbery yesterday have stepped in to end any possible retaliatory escalation of the incident.
The prompt intervention of MP for Lau Mbaelelea Augustine Auga and MP for North Malaita Jimmy Lusibaea, was necessary to avoid relatives of the security officer who had his wrist chopped off, from retaliating.
The security guard and suspects were allegedly from the two regions of Malaita.
Mr Auga and Mr Luisbaea promptly initiated the dialogue held at the Central Police station after the incident.
Central Police provincial police commander (PPC), Jack Balaga was impressed to see both leaders initiating the dialogue to help reduced people reacting to the situation.
Mr Balaga said they have agreed to recognise cultural consideration to wrap up the blood loose because of the degree of injury on the victim.
He said the timing of the reconciliation will be agreed by both parties on a later date.
The two victims (guards) are being treated at the National Referral Hospital.
