Niuleni Community Music Ministry (NCMM) celebrated its 5th Anniversary over the weekend.
A statement from the group said, NCMM is a self-supporting evangelistic outreach ministry mostly made up of people from Funa’afou/Niuleni and their friends and associates who are living and working in Honiara.
The program held at the Maranatha Centre included testimonies and reflections by members and friends whom the ministry has impacted their lives and family over the years.
A tribute to six members and three key supporters who have since passed away was also held.
Five candidates who have gone through the ministries group Bible Study program launched during last year’s 4th Anniversary program called ‘Harvest 17’ project were also baptized.
“The ministry is pleased to support the Church in its soul winning program over the last five years with a total of 41 candidates.”
The highlight of the weekend anniversary program was the signing of marriage certificates for four couples who are members of the ministry but are only legalised through custom and tradition.
On Sunday, they were issued with their marriage certificates.
The ceremony was conducted by Pr Linray Tutuo and assisted by Pr Alfred Talo and Pr Jack Maega.
Those who witnessed the event were very happy, citing it is their first time to witness such occasion.
All four couples received a very special VIP treatment. They were driven in four decorated cars from Kukum to Lungga for the event and also four wedding cakes specially decorated.
The program concluded with a feast with the couples and their families were treated separately with four tables full of food.
The ministry was launched in February 2013 with their motto adopted from the words of Jesus to the demoniac ‘Go home to you family and tell them what great things the Lord has done for You…’
Most members of the ministry are housewives, widows, widowers, market vendors and a few working class, but they have a passion to share the good news of Jesus through in the Lau dialect of Malaita.
