As part of Franjti Shipping Ltd’s commitment to maintaining reliable shipping services to Western Province it had announced a scheduled trip that will depart late this week.
The shipping firm has confirmed that its vessel, MV Florence, will embark on a major cargo and fuel delivery run to several islands and communities in the province.
According to the company’s recent announcement, the service will cover all ports throughout Marovo Lagoon, providing essential supplies for households, businesses and remote villages that continue to rely heavily on scheduled shipping for fuel and goods.
It will travel as far as Shortlands.
Loading for cargo and fuel is now underway to Friday 28 November, with the vessel scheduled to depart on the afternoon of Friday, 28 November.
“The run is part of its ongoing commitment to maintaining reliable shipping access for the province, especially during a time when many communities have faced reduced transport options.
The confirmation of MV Florence’s trip comes as several Western Province communities continue to struggle with prolonged shipping shortages.
In Ranongga, residents say no vessel has serviced the island for several months, leaving large quantities of dried copra stockpiled in villages.
Farmers from other islands have also reported similar challenges in transporting their cocoa and copra to buyers.
In a related development, MV Anjeanette will resume services to Western Province ports next weekend, raising hopes among businesses and travellers for improved shipping access in the coming weeks.
Many residents and business operators have welcomed the announcement of MV Florence’s schedule, saying the service is timely and will help ease the transportation gap experienced across the province.
