The Ministry of Women, Youth, Children and Family Affairs (MWYCFA), in collaboration with UNICEF, has handed over Information and Communication Technology (ICT) equipment to Provincial Youth Office in Western Province.
The handover ceremony on Tuesday was held at the Western Provincial Headquarters in Gizo and is aimed at strengthening the operational capacity of youth development offices in the provinces.
The donated equipment includes computers, printers and other accessories that will assist officers in coordination, reporting and digital engagement relating to youth and child development programs.

Youth Development Officer for Western and Choiseul provinces under MYCFA, May Palataru said the equipment will help improve communication and reporting systems within provincial youth offices.
“We entrust you with their safe-keeping, care and responsible use.
“This investment reflects our shared commitment to empowering young people and ensuring provinces have the capacity to contribute to national development,” she said.
She encouraged officers to take good care of the equipment so it can benefit young people and children in the provinces.
Western Provincial Deputy Secretary Collin Potakana welcomed the support, saying the equipment will assist Youth Development Officers in carrying out their work more effectively in Western Province.
Meanwhile, the new $5 million Youth Centre in Gizo is expected to be officially launched on April 20.
