Nagolau village of east Bugotu district in Isabel province has all the reason to look forward to a better future.
This came after Nagolau Honiara based community elected their first ever association to work with their community in the village and stakeholders, finding solutions to improve their lives.
The elected members are, chairman Cecil Wilson Reggie, Vice Chair Ender Fafoi Rence, Treasurer Selinta Talu Tele, Secretary Hazelyn Thirst Kanamoli, members; Posomogo chief Derek Kolinago, Rex Ngengele, and Francis Ramoni.
In a statement from the newly elected committee, the Nagolau Honiara base community association said, its time to stop the habit of waiting and asking.
“But learn to start and help ourselves by planning and organising to give back to our community. We have realized that we can do much by starting small with whatever resources we have and start building from there.
“We have seen this since we had started our initial community meetings, the response during our meetings from community members who reside in town have shown overwhelming support, by attending meetings and contribution in kind and cash.
“This is a historical milestone for Nagolau village; there are lots of activities that the association is planning to implement for short, medium and longer term which will be done through inclusive participation from the community, the statement said.
The first planned activity to be organised for this year is to commemorate Nagolau village St Day Peter’s day on the 5th of July.
This event is the first event organise for Nagolau community members who are working in Honiara and cannot make it to the village for the celebration. And it’s going to be an annual celebration.

The election of the committee came after came weeks of thorough planning and consultation with members residing, in Honiara.
