THE country’s national men’s football team has settled in Port Vila, Vanuatu ahead of the MSG Prime Ministers Cup tournament.
The team of 24 players and team officials departed yesterday for Vanuatu.
The National Team Head coach Felipe Vega Arango recently told media the team is ready to compete.
He highlighted that the team’s aim is to win the tournament and added they will put in all efforts to achieve their goal.
The Spaniard thinks this is a better team than the one that went to the World cup Qualifiers.
The tournament will kick off this weekend and will run for two weeks.
Solomon Islands other five Melanesian countries in the tournament.
The six teams are divided into two pools, Group B comprises of Fiji, Solomon Islands and New Caledonia and Group A has host Vanuatu, Papua New Guinea and Vanuatu Development Team.
Solomon Island will kick off their campaign against New Caledonia at 6pm on Wednesday September 21st.
The second pool match will be against Fiji at 3pm on Saturday September 24th.
The finals will be on Friday 30th September.
